Going To The Cinema In January? Here is What You Should See!

If you rather snuggle up in a cinema than going out during the cold evenings of January here’s a list of movies all premiering in January.

Assassin’s Creed –  is an action adventure film based on the video game franchise with the same name. The film is written by Michael Lesslie, Adam Cooper and Bill Collage and directed by Justin Kurzel. It has a few famous faces such as Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Charlotte Rampling and Michael K. Williams.The film is set in the same universe as the video games but features an original story that expands the series’ mythology, taking place during the Spanish Inquisition.

LaLa Land–  is an American romantic musical comedy-drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle. The plot follows a musician and an aspiring actress who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles aka Lala land which refers to both the city of Los Angeles as well as a euphemism for a state of being out of touch with reality  Some of the cast includes Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone,  John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, and J.K. Simmons.

Jackie– is a drama based on Jackie Kennedy’s life following the assassination of her husband in 1963. The film is directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Noah Oppenheim and  features Natalie Portman as the leading lady together with Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup and John Hurt.

Lion– is an Australian-American-British drama directed by Garth Davis and written by Luke Davies. It is based on the non-fiction book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley with Larry Buttrose and is about a boy who lost his family at the age of five and was adopted by an Australian family, are trying to find his long-lost family using Google Earth. The film stars Dev Patel, Rooney Mara, David Wenham and Nicole Kidman.

Silence– is an American historical drama about two Portuguese Catholic priests In the 17th century who face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor Father Cristóvão Ferreira. The movie is directed by  Martin Scorsese and written by Jay Cocks and Scorsese and features major starts like Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson.
